What is New York style? For actor and native New Yorker Teyana Taylor, it’s not about a label or a single garment it’s an attitude that radiates through a look. Taylor says New Yorkers “have an aura that really can’t be duplicated,” telling a Chanel panel that each borough carries its own swagger Harlem’s vibe is different from Brooklyn’s, but both are unmistakably New York.

Taylor showcased that energy at the 25th Tribeca Film Festival with two distinct Chanel outfits. For Chanel’s Tribeca Festival Artists Dinner, hosted by Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal, she wore an eggshell-blue tweed skirt suit layered over a sheer floral-embroidered blouse and topped with a baby-pink fringe-trimmed jacket. She kept accessories bold but minimal — a single-strand pearl necklace, white sunglasses, square-toe oxblood pumps from Matthieu Blazy’s debut for Chanel, and a matching mini flap bag.

Onstage at Tribeca for Chanel’s Through Her Lens conversation with director Janicza Bravo, Taylor chose a more relaxed look: pleated trousers, a slouchy graphic tee, a cropped multi-striped tweed Chanel jacket, and a maroon custom-fitted Yankees cap — a nod to her Harlem roots. Taylor blends runway influence with her own sporty, sexy, and strong aesthetic, using fashion to amplify the personal energy that defines true New York style.
