United Nations, June 29, 2026 Pakistan today warned of growing risks of miscalculation and escalation in the Ukraine conflict, stressing the urgent need for diplomacy and dialogue to prevent further humanitarian devastation. Speaking at a UN Security Council emergency meeting called by Belarus over reported drone attacks on civilians, Ambassador Usman Jadoon, Pakistan’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, highlighted the dangerous humanitarian impact of widespread use of armed drones.

Ambassador Jadoon reiterated Pakistan’s long-standing call for all parties to strictly comply with international humanitarian law and to prioritize civilian protection. He urged an immediate and complete cessation of hostilities and stressed that a mutually acceptable, peaceful settlement consistent with the UN Charter and addressing the legitimate security concerns of all sides is the only sustainable route to lasting peace. Pakistan affirmed its continued support for all multilateral efforts aimed at achieving a comprehensive, durable, and peaceful resolution to the conflict.

Pakistan also expressed deep regret over reported civilian casualties in Belarus and condemned the ongoing physical and psychological toll the conflict is inflicting on civilians.
