The family of U.S. singer-songwriter Oliver Tree announced that his body has been returned to California following last week’s helicopter collision over Rio de Janeiro that killed Tree and five others. An Instagram message posted on his official account said the family will honor Tree’s “final wish” by establishing a foundation named Dr. Oliver Tree’s Extremely Epic Grant For Baby Geniuses to support art and creativity.
The post thanked fans for their “constant love, support and positivity” during this difficult time and said, “We will make sure his wish comes to fruition so that more joy, love and art can be spread into the world.” Oliver Tree born Oliver Tree Nickell in Santa Cruz in 1993 rose to fame after going viral in 2016 and became known for his signature bowl haircut and hits such as “Life Goes On,” “Miss You” and “Alien Boy.” He was 32.
Tree had recently started a world tour, playing São Paulo on June 6; upcoming dates included Lisbon, Glasgow, Manchester and London. The family’s announcement did not specify details or a launch date for the new foundation. Fans and friends continue to share condolences online as plans for memorials and charitable efforts move forward.
